PARIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Regulatory news:

Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) and The Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation (TTC) have signed a capacity contract on the EUTELSAT 172B satellite to support the extension of corporate networks for government offices and major businesses in the Tuvalu Islands.

Under the terms of this multi-year agreement, Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation will leverage the unrivaled coverage of EUTELSAT 172B to fulfill its commitment to bridging the digital divide in remote areas. This agreement further illustrates the leading role of satellite in its own right in providing a complete connectivity solution to end users.

Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation (TTC), the sole telecommunications provider in Tuvalu, is a public company that provides telecommunications and ICT services to subscribers on each of Tuvalu’s islands and atolls.

Commenting on this agreement, Christophe Cazes, Regional Vice-President of Eutelsat for the Asia-Pacific region, said:With this agreement, TTC will leverage the EUTELSAT 172B satellite to unlock the corporate networks of government agencies and island businesses. This illustrates once again how satellites are an essential technology today to ensure that governments, businesses and other institutions can achieve their connectivity goals.

Ms. Tenanoia Simona, CEO of TTC, concluded: “Satellites are extremely well suited for connecting islands that are, by definition, cut off and isolated from terrestrial networks. We are delighted to be able to work with Eutelsat to bring this long-awaited connectivity service to our islands, which will drive the development of Tuvalu forward.
